And so, it begins again …

09 March 2010 | Kendrie soccer

One season ends, and another begins.

More specifically, in this case, soccer season.

Running, dribbling, passing, (hopefully) scoring ….

A older division, a larger playing field, more players on the field at the same time, and new rules, like offsides and um … other things we don’t understand yet.

The bigger field means we need to become better at passing, and not playing cluster-ball as much.  We’re back to practices twice a week (which is good, since our twice-a-week basketball practices are over and what on EARTH would mom and dad do with all that free time?!) and new players on the team gives the girls a chance to make new friends, which is always nice.

But most importantly …. the burning question …. most pressing of all ………

Do you think its too soon to put Kendrie and her friend Katrina on human growth hormone therapy?  Look how short they are compared to the team they are playing against …..  I guess its a good thing she likes soccer, and doesn’t have her college dreams pinned on a basketball scholarship.  (sigh)

Excellent pics! Better stick close to the phone today–Sports Illustrated will be calling.

Well – they are definitely the best dress team! Great color choice and design – they went green!

WHAT??? How old is Kendrie? Are those other girls the same age? They look like high school girls, or at the very least 7th grade or so!

If they are elementary, that is NUTS!

Good Grief! They cant be the same age? Or did you photoshop this?? lol

It’s a U-12 (under 12 years old) division …. which means the girls had to be under the age of 12 last summer. Primarily 4th and/or 5th graders ….. our team is almost all 4th graders, but at least the 5th graders on our team are closer in size!! Ha! Kristie

Clearly the girls on the other team are giants! And what was the final score?

  • 7 Kristie Says:

Final score was a loss, 0-1. Although being one of “those” parents for a moment, I can tell you that the other team scored when their player was offsides, so technically, it should have been called back. That’s the breaks, though … sometimes they fall for you, sometimes they fall against you. :) Kristie

Do I see that Kendrie is taller than Katrina? She is taller than somebody!

Great pictures. You have some great actions shots…curious, is it easier with soccer than basketball for some reason? Seems like I have lots of good soccer pictures and no good BB or football ones.

I’m impressed with the fact that they are playing in shorts and short sleeves and there is grass! Up here in Nebraska, we’ve still got LOTS of snow on the ground! My oldest is supposed to have their first high school games next Saturday. Unlike the girls who too the initiative and scooped their fields, the boys didn’t so I’ll be surprised if they get to play.

Lenaya, I think its almost always easier to get better outdoor sports shots than indoor sports shots, just because the combination of action + low lighting is hard to capture. I am getting better at my indoor sports photos, but I have to shoot on manual and really tweak my settings. Outdoors, I just use the ‘action’ setting on my camera and shoot away! Kristie

Are they playing on a wheat field? I guess since we don’t get snow here the grass is always green- or the fake turf is always green.

Don’t be so hard on the Amazon women…I had to take Big Foot to get a CA ID card as parents/coaches were always sure he was too old to be playing with their kids.
