The Good News

So, last Thursday (as in, ten days ago) my kids were out of school for a snow/ice day.  Which I’m pretty sure the administration regretted in hindsight, since by afternoon what little bit of slickness we had gotten, had totally melted.  Of course, that’s weather in Oklahoma for you.  Consider ….. yesterday and today we [...]

And I’m not talking canned meat

Since moving over from Caringbridge, and then Blogger, and now to this WordPress blog, I’m suddenly the lucky recipient of spam.  Not the canned meat variety, but the comment variety.  While I don’t really remember getting much spam on the other blogs, I do here.  Quite a few, each day.  In fact, some days I [...]

Of course you will

I have little doubt that given my unbelievable luck (or total and complete LACK thereof) regarding computers and technology, you guys must be thinking at this point that I am just making this shit up.  No one could possibly be as completely hopeless and inadequate as I am when it comes to things breaking or [...]

Is Twitter the new Blogger?

OK, so this is more of a general-opinion question, because I’m curious to know what others think ….. In your opinion, are Twitter and Facebook replacing blogging? The reason I ask is because I posted a blog entry here yesterday, commenting on Kendrie’s 4-yr off treatment mark, and so far, have gotten about ten comments.  [...]

Take that, Alanis Morrisette

Irony is making sure you have a surge protector for your computer, only for the contractor to flip the breaker and apparently short out (or something else electronic-ish) your hard drive.  Or operating system.  Or whatever it is that broke, I have no idea. Irony is insisting the cable company come to your house to [...]

The good news ….

The good news is, the contractors actually showed up today. The good news is, they seem to know what they are doing. The good news is, I can see the progress they are making. The good news is, when they asked where the breaker box was located, because they needed to turn off the power [...]

I don’t like change. Even when I’m the one who changed it.

If you’ve been so kind as to follow me over here from Blogger, I sincerely thank you.  If you’ve been so kind in years past as to add me to your own blogroll, I sincerely thank you, and respectfully ask that you update the link to show this current address.  I’m hardly a Dooce or [...]

Well, I never thought of that.

Anyone who has followed this site (or Blogger previously, or Caringbridge before that, or back in my younger days when I carved on cave walls with rocks ….) for any length of time knows I have a real love/hate relationship with computers and technology.  I know just enough to be dangerous …. just enough to [...]

Clearly I cannot tell teim (or spell)

According to Facebook, my site is “down for maintenance, and should be available again in a few hours.” Facebook is “sorry for any inconvenience this has caused.” That note has been on my Facebook page since last Sunday. It is now Wednesday. According to MY mental math, that is way more than “a few hours.” [...]

Still …

PS. If you have a second, send up a positive thought for Blaine this afternoon. He’s going in for a root canal on a tooth ….. in a location that the dentist told him previously “they could never get to, in a million years”. He can’t open his mouth wide enough due to scar tissue [...]
