Side by side

30 May 2010 | Brayden,Kendrie,Photography

I was taking pictures for a friend in the park the other evening and the girls went with me, to serve oh-so-willingly as helpers.

OK, that’s a big fat lie.  I paid each of them $3 to help me schlep my cameras and bags and stepstools and reflectors around the park …. THEN they made me promise to take them to get sno-cones afterwards.

OK, that’s a big fat lie, too.  **I** wanted the sno-cones.

Anyway, when I was done taking pictures of my friend’s sons, Brayden asked if we could take a few more, of them, before we left.  We walked past this iron fence and while it probably wasn’t the most beautiful background ever, and the light was fading, I agreed to snap a few more.

I thought this one of Brayden turned out pretty well ….

I probably need to tweak it some more and make her a little “warmer” …. just my personal preference.  But overall, I liked the green background with her pink shirt, and her beautiful brown eyes, and of course, since she’s my daughter, I just enjoy pictures of her, period.

Then Kendrie said she wanted to take the same picture …….

This photo needs to be “warmed up”, also.  But I think the similarities end there.  I don’t know if its the cast on her arm, the t-shirt, or the freckles, or the impish grin  …… but I don’t think two kids, even when standing side by side, could look less like sisters.

And it cracks me up, because I think they’re both beautiful.

I agree your daughters both look charming. My sisters and I all have dissimilar colouring of hair and eyes. One has a beautiful ginger afro, the other yard straight blonde hair and I am a mixture between the two having strawberry blonde waves. When together we don’t look immediately like sisters but its our mannerisms and what we laugh at that tell were sisters, possibly your girls are the same.

Such beautiful girls!!! If you check out my profile picture on Facebook, you’ll see how dissimilar my kids look, too. :)

Kendrie’s arm can’t be comfortable like that, can it?!

They are both gorgeous! And it’s better that they each have their own look. They are comfortable with themselves.

None of my kids look alike either, but they are all beautiful. And they are all mine! One has a darker skin tone with black hair and dark dark brown eyes, one has blonde hair and blue eyes, and one has brown eyes and a reddish-brown hair color. I love them all!

    You are blessed, too!

One lucky mom, two lucky daughters. You do such a nice job of portraying their individuality.
