Oh boy, I hear you! My youngest home sick today and off all next week for Presidents week- then begins the college kids spring breaks (which for some unknown reason happen before it is technically spring!), followed by the high schoolers consecutive breaks...and finally the youngest's in April...a full 2 months of bonding:)

i do have to say, i didn't take my kids sledding. i did however let them ruin the bathroom with beauty shop, make a store out of their bedroom for sales beyond disarray and watch more Spongebob and iCarly episodes than human consumption should allow.

"I’m certain you people up north are laughing in our faces at what wimps we are, that everything — schools, universities, businesses, doctors offices, churches – shut down with a simple sheet of ice, covered by a couple inches of snow ………."

This sentence CRACKED me up!! In Alabama, if the weatherman so much as mentions the "S" word, within an hour the stores are out of bread and milk and the schools start closing! And, Lord help us if it does actually SNOW! Here's hoping your school closing decision makers do not view this as an idle threat :)

I live in NH and we are accustomed to the harsh weather, for the most part.

Last year was the worst EVER. 15ish days at least. 3 children and Dog. Snowed in or ICED in. I cried when spring came early. Really happy tears.

This year? NOTHING.

YES!!!!!

We are tough up here in the north country. We've had 55+ inches of snow since December and are to get 6 inches and ice the next couple of days. It sure is getting old. Glad my kids are in college and don't have to worry about keeping them entertained and not fighting!

I was thinking like Jeanette above me....if you can look for the positive, if you don't have snow removal equipment readily available, I'm guessing your schools also don't have built in snow days like we do up here in the northern parts so they'll get to make up those days at some point! Our most recent snow storm came at the end of Christmas break....two weeks off, one day back at school and then two more days off which flowed right into the weekend....basically 3 weeks of the little angels at home! It was one time I was HAPPY to be a working mom!!!

Hang in there!

Amen. I live in Raleigh, NC and we are on Day 3 of them being out. It snowed about 5 inches here on Saturday (yes, 5 days ago). Most people are back at work, neighboring counties and private schools are back in, but our county thinks it is still too treacherous. It hasn't been below freezing in over 36 hours (supposed to be 50 today), but the roads are still too bad. Like you, I will do bodily harm if mine don't go back tomorrow.

I am surprised that OK isn't a little more prepared for snow and ice. Seems like I remember it always snowing in the winter there! Will there be an extra week tacked onto the end of the year for them?
